The Man in You – the Stigma that is Men and Infertility

Infertility in men is one of the most common male related health issues of this decade.  Even with odds of 200 million to one, the future sometimes seems bleak. But there’s no reason to lose heart. Infertility is diagnosed as a health issue after 1 year of unprotected sexual intercourse. Understand the basis of your problem and you will find ways to fix it.

So what are the primary reasons for Infertility in men?

-          Slow Sperm Motility

-          Low Sperm Count

-          Problems with composition of Semen

-          Abnormal morphology of Sperm

What can you do to prevent this?

-          Smoking: Smoking tobacco has been shown to reduce sperm count and lower mobility.

-           Drinking: Abnormal sperm production caused by excessive long term consumption of alcohol

-          Weight: Hormonal imbalance

-          Exercise: Excessive exercise can also lead to lower sperm count.

-          Vitamins: Vitamin C and E deficiencies result in abnormal sperm production.

Well as simple and straightforward as that sounds, it’s not an easy hill to climb. Infertility affects one in 25 men, so maintaining a healthy lifestyle with a positive attitude is important. Fertility is considered by many as the mark of a man. Infertility comes with that stigma of not being the man that you are supposed to be.  There is no point in dwelling in that misery. Face the problem, because standing up against your disability is where the true strength lies. There are many fertility treatments available at your disposal. As was once not so famously said, “The night’s still young.”
